Raiders Shut Out Against Thunder

MILWAUKEE – The MSOE men's hockey team returned home Friday evening to resume their conference action going up against #11 Trine University. After a slow and scoreless first period, Trine's quick start to the second period and a dominant defensive effort held the Raiders short.

FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 0

#11 Trine - 2

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Trine (13-3-0, 8-1-0 NCHA) was hot out of the gate, firing off 16 shots in the first period. Austin Schwab was locked in saving all shots he faced, but the Raiders only getting seven shots themselves couldn't score either as each side headed into the first break knotted at zero.
  • The Thunder picked up where they left off and within 30 seconds back in action scored the first goal of the game. The Raiders upped their shot total to ten in the period, with Casey Roepke and Jacob Bosse getting two shots on goal, but was stopped yet again to go down 1-0 after two periods of play.
  • The Raiders had their first chance on the power play five minutes into the third period with hopes of tying up the game. Unfortunately, the Thunder found themselves on a breakaway for a short-handed goal to extend their lead, holding on the rest of the way.
