MILWAUKEE – After back-to-back five set match victories, things took turn for the worse this time around as the MSOE women's volleyball couldn't hold off Lakeland University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Lakeland (6-14, 4-1 NACC) picked up the first point of the match, Hannah Gilbert got the MSOE (10-11, 2-3 NACC) offense started as they took a 6-2 run quickly. The Muskies crawled back to take a 11-10 before a kill from Emma Schattschneider started a 5-0 run. Just a few points later, another kill from Gilbert put the Raiders in the driver's seat with a 6-0 run to lead 22-13. After the Muskies trickled in a few more points, back-to-back kills from Ashley Murphy set up a service ace from Olivia Bartels to take the first set 25-16.
- Neither side gain the clear edge until the rare kill from Bartels came down at the 7-5 mark that sparked a run to put them ahead 13-7. The Muskies made things interesting tying up the set at 17 as the two sides began to go back and forth. After things got tied up at 25, Sydney Emineth and Murphy put the final two nails in the coffin to seal the set 27-25.
- The Muskies didn't back down at all and instead came with full force, starting with a lead of five in the set that by the end finished with a 12-point lead when they cruised to a 25-13 set win. The Raiders were able to keep things close, never keeping the deficit grow as large as five. Schattschneider was driving force in the Raiders crawling all the way back to within one, but the Muskie offense prevailed to force fifth set 25-23. After it seemed like it was going to remain all Muskies, the Raiders tied things at six to get the Kern rocking. After Muskie miscues put the Raiders ahead 10-9, things quickly went sideways as the Muskies finished thing off 15-12.
