Late Goals Push Falcons Past Raiders

MILWAUKEE – As conference play rolls on, the MSOE women's hockey team squared off against the Falcons of Concordia University Wisconsin on Friday night.  Despite a standout performance in net from goalie Jenna Kent, the Raiders would fall to the Falcons after two late goals in the third period.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Raiders (2-3-0, 1-2-0 NCHA) trailed the Falcons (4-2-0, 3-0-0 NCHA) early after a costly turnover by the Raiders defense gave the Falcons a shorthanded breakaway chance, as CUW found the back of the net and went up 1-0 at the 03:45 mark of the first period.
  • Goalie Jenna Kent would keep the Raiders in the game all evening, as the junior from El Paso, Illinois recorded a whopping 43 saves in her time on the ice, flashing the leather and shutting out the Falcons in the second period of play.  The Red and White nearly tied the game up in the waning moments of the second frame, as Arial Lapsa had a one-on-one chance with the goalkeeper but hit the crossbar, sending MSOE into the second intermission still trailing by a goal. 
  • The Raiders would finally find the back of the net just four minutes into the third, as Amy MacDonald found MaryFrancis Williams for the equalizer as the Raiders offense looked to build momentum.  The Falcons would go on to score two goals in a span of less than a minute, outshooting the Raiders 46-9 on the evening, as the deficit was too much for the Red and White to overcome despite the late powerplay chance.

WHO'S ON DECK
The Raiders will hit the road to close out the two-game series with the Falcons on Saturday, November 16th, as they get set to take on Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon, Wis. Puck drop is set for 5:00 PM.
