Gottner Named Raider of the Week

MILWAUKEE – Xander Gottner has been named Raider of the Week after his performance at the NCAA National Championship this past weekend.

Gottner, a senior from Joliet, Illinois, finished 43rd at the championship, running 24:49.4, just three seconds off from becoming an All-American. Gottner led for a vast majority early on in the race before the major heavy hitters separated just before the halfway mark. His time is the second fastest of his career behind his school record time of 24:43.3 to finish ninth at the north regional to qualify for the championships.

Gottner capped off a season for the record books from MSOE men's cross country that won the Ken Weidt Classic to open the season and followed three second-place finishes, all behind teams ranked in the Top 15 nationally. The Raiders had their highest ranking ever regionally at sixth and had ten All-Conference finishes at the conference championship on November 2nd where Gottner was the champion with 21 points.
