DUBUQUE, Iowa – The MSOE women's hockey team wrapped up the Mississippi Match-Up hosted by the University of Dubuque on Saturday night, as the Red and White fell to Lake Forest College in the tournament's consolation game.
FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 1
Lake Forest College - 3
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Raiders (2-7-1, 1-4-1 NCHA) and Foresters (3-5-2, 1-3-1 NCHA) were scoreless through most of the first period until LFC recorded a goal with less than two minutes left in the opening frame. Despite the close score, the Foresters outshot the Red and White 26-8 over the opening 20 minutes. MSOE would go on the powerplay just fifteen seconds into the second period, but it was the Foresters who would find the back of the net, sneaking one past Jenna Kent and putting the Raiders down 2-0.
- After trailing by two goals to start the third period, the Raiders would begin to chip away at the lead at the 12:44 mark of the frame, as Helen Bechthold recorded a powerplay goal thanks to crisp passing from Hannah Baumann and MaryFrancis Williams, putting MSOE behind just one score. Lake Forest would score their third goal of the game with four minutes left in the contest however, dashing any hopes of an MSOE comeback.
