Men's Soccer Blank Stars; Advance to NACC Title Game

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – In a rematch last season's Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) Championship game, the No. 3 seed MSOE men's soccer team gained sweet revenge over No. 2 Dominican University to punch their ticket to the championship game.

RESULT
No. 3 MSOE RAIDERS – 5

No. 2 Dominican - 0

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • MSOE (11-3-6, 8-2-2 NACC) came out with a bang when goalkeeper Asher Harris helped lead a pass downfield to Zach Thompson to help feed Ditar Useni for the first goal of the game just under six minutes in. After Dominican (12-5-4, 8-1-3 NACC) had three opportunities to put one past Harris, Steven Arthur found himself perfectly in the box from a Nico Picha corner kick to extend the lead up to 2-0.
  • The duo of Picha and Tanner Cellio worked well together in a short time span, as Cellio fed Picha inside in the 27th minute for the third goal of the game. Picha then played another corner kick ball perfectly for Cellio six minutes later to put the home squad in a massive hole at the half 4-0.
  • In the second half, the Raiders continued to keep things out of their defensive end to keep the Stars score blank. Midway through the half, Danny Aranda and Owen Gendrich helped team up to feed Thompson for one final goal to seal their trip to the championship game.
