Women's Soccer Defeated in NACC Championship

CHICAGO – In a rematch the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) women's soccer championship, the MSOE women's team couldn't create the same magic against No. 1 seed Illinois Institute of Technology.

RESULT
No. 2 MSOE RAIDERS – 1

No. 1 Illinois Tech - 6

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Wanting to set the tone early, MSOE (15-5-2, 9-1-2 NACC) struck quickly after mess in the box found the foot of Faith Papazoglou 2:10 into the game that she sent to left corner of the goal to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead. Illinois Tech (18-2-2, 11-0-1 NACC) matched that in the 11th minute with a goal of their knot up the game at one. The Scarlet Hawks' Gabriella Baltes connected twice in a ten-minute span before the Raiders could fire a shot off when Addison Spilman sent one high in the 40th minute as the they faced a 3-1 deficit at the break.
  • Elizabeth Kuhn helped try to change the momentum coming out of half, firing off a shot just 16 seconds in but sailed right. The Scarlet Hawks went on a tear from there, striking twice in the span of 90 seconds, building their lead 5-1. The Raiders could only finish the rest of the match with game two more shots, Spilman and Kuhn each, but neither could make their way on target.
