MILWAUKEE – In a night honoring him joining the 1,000-point during the pregame ceremony,
Mason Dopirak dropped a season-high 28 points in a comeback win over Rockford University for the first conference win of the season.
FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 71
Rockford - 62
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After going back-and-forth to begin, Rockford (4-2, 0-1 NACC) gained the biggest momentum of the first with a ten-point lead at the midway point. Layups from Donovan Carter and Carson Cordelli each separately cut the MSOE (5-2, 1-1 NACC) deficit to five as a layup from Carter as time nearly expired in the first half put them to within six over the Regents 38-32.
- Dopirak started his run right out of the break nailing a jump shot and brought them to within one 44-43 just over six minutes in. Two free throws from Anay Amoah gave the Raiders their first lead since early in the first half before the lead bounced back and forth for the next few minutes.
- As it was tied at 51, a rebound and massive outlet pass from Ethan Johnson led Dopirak to an and-one finish to go ahead three, but the Regents would continue to not back down. Battling back to go ahead one, the Regents wouldn't have a lead any longer with four minutes remaining as jumper from Dopirak helped give them the lead that they wouldn't look back on as Carter nailed the final free throws to seal it.
