MILWAUKEE – Marian University wouldn't go away too easily as the MSOE men's basketball team held off the Sabres in the home finale this season.
FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 87
Marian - 76
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mason Dopirak dropped in seven of the first nine points in MSOE (12-12, 9-8 NACC) 9-0 start, eventually extending up to a 15-4 lead after Aidan Blackmon knocked in one from long range. Marian (4-20, 4-13 NACC) took its best chance at stabbing into the lead down just five, but the three-point shot the rest of the half continued to be lethal for the Raiders as they headed into the break leading 44-23.
- As the second half progressed, the Sabres slowly made the game competitive as they cut the Raider lead down to 11 midway through. The sides began to essentially go shot for shot the next five minutes until the Sabres found their way into single digits with five minutes to play, 70-61. After Blackmon free-throws, Dopirak and Carson Cordelli became clutch down the stretch nailing jumpers and free throws to seal it 87-76.
