GENEVA, Ill. – The MSOE men's hockey team's season comes to an end on Saturday as they were knocked out of the Harris Cup Playoffs by Aurora University.
FINAL SCORE
No. 5 MSOE RAIDERS – 1
No. 4 Aurora - 5
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Aurora (15-11-1, 12-6-0 NCHA) wasted no time trying to find opportunities to strike first, outshooting MSOE (14-11-2, 8-9-1 NCHA) 13-5 in the first period. Midway through the first period, the Spartans converted on a powerplay to make the game 1-0, to which they held at the first break. After the start of the second period, the Spartans nailed in two quick goals to all the sudden blow by the Raiders 3-0.
- Needing a spark near the end of the second period, the Raiders went on the powerplay and who else, but Seth Bernard give them what they needed, receiving the pass from Adam Smith and Carson Jones, to put one on the board as went down 3-1 after two played. The Raiders unfortunately couldn't overcome mental mistakes as the Spartans converted on two more powerplays as they cruised the rest of the way 5-1.
