MILWAUKEE – The MSOE women's lacrosse saw three-hat-tricks in Wednesday game with Cornell College but couldn't stop their third quarter run.
RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 9
Cornell - 11
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cornell (11-2, 1-1 MLC) opened with two quick goals before taking a 3-0 lead. Maggie Sanderson put MSOE (2-5, 0-1 NACC) on the scoreboard just before the quarter ended before they dominated the second. The Raiders outscored the Rams 4-1 in the quarter with goals from Sanderson, Vayda Flower, and Lilly Johnson to have the 5-4 edge at the break.
- The Rams went on a similar first quarter run to begin the third quarter with four straight goals as Johnson broke up their scoring skid to put the Raiders in an 8-6 deficit. The Rams continued to cushion their 11-6 lead, but the Raiders wouldn't let them go away easy. The trio each completed their hat-tricks in final three minutes hoping to create the miracle comeback but a draw control from the Rams on the final goal helped seal it for them.
