Men's Volleyball Season Ends in Heartbreaking NACC Semifinal

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The MSOE men's volleyball team finishes their season in heartbreaking fashion down at Dominican University. The Raiders went up 2-0 over the No. 1 seeded Stars but couldn't close the door in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Semi-final.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Things were heating up early as it wasn't until things were tied at 15 someone to make the run to separate themselves. After back-to-back from Seth Thomas, MSOE (14-11, 9-3 NACC) went on an 8-2 run to take a 23-17 lead. Three more points came from Dominican (18-7, 11-1 NACC) to close in but kills from Callan Harris and Matthew Schultz help end things 25-20 in set one.
  • The Stars edged the Raiders early in set two until multiple failed attacks gave the Red & White a 13-8 lead. The Stars eventually stormed back to cut their deficit to one down 19-18 but one of Harris' three service aces on the night ended the second set 25-22.
  • The Stars wouldn't let the Raiders go away after they had multiple chances in the third set to upset them, especially late tied 24 and 25. The Stars picked up the final two points to win the third set 27-25 as the Raiders began to spiral. A run midway through the fourth set completely gave the home squad momentum the Raiders couldn't match as the Stars tied up the match winning 25-20. The No. 1 seed proved their dominance in the final set after keeping the Raiders in it midway through, blowing away late to win 15-9.

WHO'S ON DECK
The Raiders finish the season with an overall record of 14-11 and a conference record of 9-3. After being voted fifth in the preseason poll, the Red & White improved one spot at the end of the season finishing in fourth.
