HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game One
- The Raiders (12-12, 7-3 NACC) were shut out by the Stars (24-2, 9-1 NACC) in the first game, mustering only five hits against the #19 team in the country. The Raiders had chances down the stretch to knot things up, in the bottom of the sixth, after Faith Matta advanced to second with no outs but was unable to get across. The Raiders were down to their final out with Jocelyn Clodi on second base, but grounded out and fell 2-0.
- Katie Pollock went all seven innings on the mound, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk, while striking out six Stars, tying her second highest mark on the season.
- Game Two
- MSOE bounced back at the plate after an ice-cold Game 1, putting up five runs on the Stars in the bottom of the first. Matta started the early Raiders rally, as Jenna Trewyn, Jenna O'Donnell and Clodi each record RBI singles to put the Raiders ahead 3-0. Alyssa Jacobson would deliver a 2-out 2-RBI double down the left field line to expand the Raiders lead to 5-0, as the Raiders batted around the order in the first inning.
- Finnley Olsen would go six innings in her start for the Raiders, holding the Stars scoreless through two, and allowing five runs (three earned) on six hits and one walk. The Stars tagged Olsen for one run in the third, before adding two in both the fourth and fifth to knot the game up at 5-5 with two innings to play.
- The Raiders would take the lead back in the bottom of the sixth, as Sadie Gaberell led off with a single advanced to third on a Stars error. Matta would step to the plate and deliver a base hit to second, bringing the go-ahead run across. The Raiders would turn to Pollock to get the save, as the first year player gave up a 1-out triple in the top of the seventh. Pollock would work her way out of the mess, striking out the final two Stars to a large ovation from the Raiders Field faithful, as MSOE won Game 2 with a final score of 6-5.
