Women's Lacrosse Plunges Scarlet Hawks

MILWAUKEE – Battling the elements, the MSOE women's lacrosse picked things back up in conference action over Illinois Tech with Vayda Flower having a career high four goals.

RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 10

Illinois Tech - 7

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Flower's hot stick struck early as she took it herself 1:12 in but was answered minutes later by Illinois Tech (3-10, 0-4 NACC) to knot it up at one. The Scarlet Hawks continued a run with two more goals quickly until Flower near the end of the first took a free position opportunity to the back of the net to cut MSOE's (4-6, 2-1 NACC) deficit to one, down 3-2, at the end of one.
  • The two sides traded goals with Flower rounding out her hat-trick before Lilly Johnson tied things up at four midway through the second. A goal from the Scarlet Hawks near the end of the quarter with hopes of entering the break with a lead was stopped short when Jenna Kent found Johnson for her second of the night to tie things at five.
  • After a lightning delay just before half, the scoring took a bit to pick back up when Flower added her fourth of the night midway through but was answered with the Scarlet Hawks minutes later. Helen Bechthold got in on the action from Joce Katte near the end of the third as the Raiders took a 7-6 lead after three. When the Scarlet Hawks tied things up at the beginning of the fourth, the Raiders never looked back after Johnson took advantage of a man-up situation. Alana Perry and Katte sealed things in the final minutes with goals for the 10-7 victory.
