Second Half Sabres Pull Away from Raiders on Senior Day

MILWAUKEE – The MSOE women's lacrosse team celebrated the program's first senior day in a meeting with Marian University. Despite four goals from Lilly Johnson, the Raiders couldn't slow down the Sabres in the second half to drop to .500 in conference play.

RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 5

Marian - 9

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Johnson didn't waste time on having another hat-trick performance, finishing it in the first quarter as MSOE (4-7, 2-2 NACC) held the three-goal advantage at the end of the first. Marian (5-9, 1-2 NACC) had their turn in the second quarter to score three straight as the two headed into the break tied at three.
  • The Sabres took a two-goal lead before Johnson netted her fourth goal of the day from Vayda Flower. The two then traded goals as Olivia Carroll scored her second of the year before a late third quarter goal put the Sabres ahead 7-5. The Raiders had no answer in the fourth quarter, being shut out with the Sabres adding some insurance goals to seal their win.
