Green Knights Complete Sweep of Raiders

MILWAUKEE – The MSOE women's hockey team closed out their two games series against the #14 St. Norbert College Green Knights on Saturday night, as a second period push from SNC got them past the Red and White to complete the sweep.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Raiders (3-14-2, 2-8-2 NCHA) held the Green Knights (16-3-0, 12-0-0 NCHA) in check through most of the first period, as the MSOE defense and goalie Laura Melizza stood tall against the Green Knights, with Lilo Emerson, Sara Kopf and Lexi Jackson recording critical blocks to keep the scoreboard clean.  The Raiders would kill off a penalty at the 17:07 mark of the first, but the Green Knights would manage nab an even strength goal with just eight seconds left secure a 1-0 lead at the first intermission.
  • The Raiders would go on the offensive coming out of the intermission, with Anika Einbeck and Jackson getting shots on goal early in the period.  The Raiders would be assessed a penalty for cross-checking and the Green Knights would pounce, scoring a power play goal 30 seconds into their two-minute advantage, followed up by an even strength goal just thirteen seconds later.  The Raiders would trail 4-0 heading into the final frame after SNC added another goal down the stretch of the second period
  • The Raiders would have two powerplay opportunities as they tried to mount a comeback against the #14 ranked team in the country but came up empty on both despite clean looks from Gray Mandia and Emerson.  The Green Knights would outshoot the Raiders 33-12 as the Raiders fell 5-0.

The Raiders will kick-off a two game series against Marian Sabres starting on Friday, January 31st in Fond du Lac, Wis.  Drop of the puck is scheduled for 7:00 P.M.
