DULUTH, Minn. – The MSOE men's hockey dropped their first game of the season Saturday afternoon as they were not able to overcome a three-goal deficit, splitting the weekend series.
FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 1
St. Scholastica - 3
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The defenses came to play in the first period as only 13 shots combined were taken, along with zero power plays as the two sides went into the first break scoreless. The second period looked much of the same until under five minutes to play when St. Scholastica (1-1-0, 0-0-0 MIAC) scored twice before the period ended for a 2-0 lead heading into the second break.
- The Saints immediately went on the power play beginning the third period and struck once again, extending the lead to three. MSOE (1-1-0, 0-0-0 NCHA) got their second powerplay opportunity as the clock was winding down and Rylan Jockims rebounded a shot from Carson Jones and aimed at the wind open net to get the Raiders on the board. Getting another powerplay opportunity later in the game, the Raiders couldn't convert and ultimately couldn't cut the deficit.
