HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (0-2-0, 0-0-0 NCHA) found themselves trailing Bethel (2-0-0, 0-0-0 MIAC) almost immediately as the Royals recorded a goal just nineteen seconds into the game. The Raiders would see shots from Gabi Heuser and Emily Reiner go wide as they neared the midway point of the first period, before the Royals added two more goals to go up 3-0 by the 10:53 mark. Alexa Novak would enter the game at goalie as the Raiders tried to salvage a comeback, but the Royals offensive was unflappable, tagging MSOE for two more goals before the end of the period as the Raiders went down 5-0.
- In the second period, the Raiders were unable to generate any points against the Royals, who continued to shoot at will as they mounted an 8-0 lead by the end of the second frame. The Red and White would have a few good looks at the net from Lilo Emerson and Amy MacDonald coming down the stretch, but the Bethel defense turned them away each time, as the Raiders fell 9-0 to close out their opening weekend, turning their attention to conference play.
