MEQUON, Wis. – After going up quickly, the MSOE women's hockey team made a third period comeback on the road at Concordia University Wisconsin but came up short in the final minutes Friday evening.
FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 3
Concordia Wisconsin - 4
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (2-3-0, 2-1-0 NCHA) wasted no time getting on the board as just over a minute into the game, MaryFrancis Williams found a rebound from a shot from Hannah Baumann and sent it right back in to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead from the jump. Concordia Wisconsin (4-1-0, 3-0-0 NCHA) pressed the rest of the first period, outshooting the Raiders 10-5 but couldn't break through as they held the lead at the break.
- The Falcons dominated the second period offensively, outshooting the Raiders 14-8 and striking three times to lead 3-1 at the second break. Just when the Falcons thought they had the game wrapped up, Emily Reiner received a pass after Arial Lapsa stole the puck and took it the distance to tie the game up with 6:44 remaining. With just over three minutes remaining, Baumann's pass to the middle made a lucky bounce off the Falcon's goaltender to sneak right through and tied the game at three. The Raiders comeback was stopped there as Falcons scored with 90 seconds remaining to retake the lead and held for the win.
