HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (3-4-1, 3-2-1 NCHA) and Trine (1-4-1, 1-4-1 NCHA) were both looking for more output from their offensive units after yesterday's contest was scoreless for 65 minutes. The Thunder would break through just past the midway point of the first period, tallying the first goal of the game at even strength. Trine would hold their 1-0 lead through the first intermission, with Nadia Buck scoring the equalizer at the 4:41 mark of the first period. Gabi Heuser would give the Raiders the lead just before the midway point of the second period, with Darby Boughan adding another goal in the final minutes of the frame to give MSOE a 3-1 lead heading into the second intermission.
- In the third period, Jenna Kent continued to smother the Trine offense, stopping every shot she faced after allowing the early goal. Helen Bechthold would pile on to the MSOE lead at the 7:06 mark of the third, courtesy of assists from MaryFrancis Williams and Lilo Emerson. Buck would add her second goal of the game with just over five minutes left in the game, recording just the second multi-goal game in program history as the Raiders ran away with the 5-1 win.
