MILWAUKEE – In a night that saw heaving offensive production from the MSOE men's hockey team,
Seth Bernard nets two goals as they steal a point from #3 Aurora University, forcing a shootout.
FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 3
#3 Aurora - 3
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (10-8-4, 5-7-3 NCHA) came out with an offensive attack to put Aurora (18-3-1, 12-2-1 NCHA) on their heels early, outshooting them 15-6 in the first period. Despite that, it was the Spartans that struck first late in the period to have the lead at the first break.
- The Spartans carried that momentum as they added to the lead five minutes into the second to make it 2-0, but the Raiders cut into it when Ethan Mann fed Bernard to the right side as he took it right to the net to poke it in to score. The Raiders tied it up later in the period when Rylan Jockims passed to Carson Jones who sent it right back to him and sent it top right but was answered quickly by the Spartans just a minute later, making it 3-2 at the second break.
- The Bernard show continued as he took a break away down the left side from Jones and took it across the goalie and sent it back left to tie it at three just a few minutes into the third period beginning. Both goalies continued to be stout in between the pipes as neither let up another goal in regulation and overtime, forcing the shootout. After Jacob Bosse helped push it past the best of three, the Spartans came out on top on the fourth go-around.
