LISLE, Ill. – After a week since they last stepped on the court,
Callan Harris didn't slow down his hot streak one bit, racking up 26 kills in the thrilling victory on the road at Benedictine University for MSOE men's volleyball.
RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 3
Benedictine - 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (9-10, 7-1 NACC) didn't assert themselves into the lead until midway through the set when they went on a 4-0 run with two kills from Matthew Schultz and a kill and block from Gregory Kubon to lead 17-11. Benedictine (12-8, 7-2 NACC) made things interesting by cutting their deficit to three late, but Harris nailed down a service ace at set point to take it 25-20.
- The Raiders looked to run away early in set two by going on a 9-1 run, capped by Harris' second ace of the day, to take a 12-6 lead. The steam that the Raiders had on offense cooled off immensely as the Eagles came back to tie it at 23 and steal the set 27-25.
- Tommy Clausz led the charge early on in the third set as they took a 5-2 lead early on. After the Eagles tied it at nine, it was Harris that took command as he killed the ball eight times en route to the Raiders pulling away with ease to a 25-18 set three win.
- The Eagles made the first move in the fourth set taking a 6-2 lead but was quickly erased by a 4-0 run capped by Parker Rings and Schultz combining for the block. The Eagles answered taking the lead back and not letting it up until the 21 point mark when Harris slammed one home. After to trade points back and forth all the way past the 25-point mark, Seth Thomas threw down the final kill to seal the victory 28-26.
