NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The MSOE men's track & field team opened the outdoor season this weekend, traveling to North Central College for the First Chance Invitational.
Daniel Geerts led the charge for the Red & White, setting a new program record.
RECAP
- Geerts in his outdoor debut won the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 55.41, over a half a second faster than second place, and and .16 off the previous record. Geerts also added a second-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing in a time of 15.21.
- On Friday night, Xander Gottner led a 1-2-3 sweep in the 10,000-meter run, leading the way in 32:01.26, with Zach Zuzzio coming in second in 32:51.08 and Patrick Lee in third in 32:59.88. Sam McPeak had a third-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, running 9:56.27, opening in a new career best by nearly a second.
- Adam Shaw coming off his indoor nationals experience won the 1,500-meter run, leading from the gun and taking it in 3:57.95. Evan Ploeckelman finished fourth overall in the 100-meter dash, clocking a time of 10.78.
- Ethan Wrasman led the throwing department, finishing fourth in the shot put with a toss of 14.35 meters. Elijah Villa added a fifth-place finish in the discus with a toss of 44.87 meters.

The Raiders will be back in action next Friday, April 4
th, when they travel to Whitewater for the Rex Foster Twilight. Field events set to begin at 11:00 AM with running events at 1:00 PM.
