Men's Track & Field Scores Staggering Team Total to Dominate the Carroll University Open

WAUKESHA, Wis. – The MSOE men's track & field set a school recording team score to dominate the outdoor opener at the Carroll University Open.

1st Place – 331.5 pts 

RECAP 
  • The Raiders kicked off the day sweeping the 10,000-meter run as Zach Zuzzio won in 32:38.97 and Lucas Skupien in second in 33:14.86. The group of Jack Schwartz, Nana Adubofour, Nathaniel Asiedu-Mensah, and Camden Nennig won the 4x100-meter relay, clocking a time of 43.26. The Raiders continued their run of sweeping events, going 1-4 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with Sam McPeak leading the charge in 9:30.53. Jack Dorner won the 1,500-meter run with a time 4:09.99, with Owen Recoy taking second in 4:17.76.
  • Sam Sorenson cleared the field in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing over a second than the rest of the field in 15.04. AJ Springer also ran away from the field off of his Indoor National Championship run in the 800-meter run, finishing in 1:54.71. Schwartz won the 400-meter hurdles in 58.80, while Joseph Hillyer led a 1-2 finish in the 5,000-meter run as he went 15:39.81 and Ryan Alyassir finished second in 15:44.82. Schwartz, Springer, Chase Nogalski, and Daniel Geerts capped off the running events winning the 4x400-meter relay in 3:32.57.
  • Over in the field events, Bob Sibigtroth cleared 1.80 meters in the high jump to capture the event. The Raiders completely dominated the pole vault, taking the top seven spots led by Korvan Nameni and Cameron O'Brien going 4.40 meters and Zach Lehrer going 4.10 meters. Joel Walter won the triple jump with 12.89 meters, followed by Adubofour in second with 12.87 meters and James Paulson in third with 12.69 meters. Over in the throws, Ethan Wrasman finished as the top collegian in the hammer throw, launching it 49.55 meters to finish in third. Wrasman also had a third-place finish in the shot put with 14.45 meters, finishing behind Elijah Villa who took second with 14.72 meters.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Raiders head to Whitewater next Friday, April 4th, for the Rex Foster Twilight. Field events are set to begin at 11:00 a.m. with running events at 1:00 p.m.
