GREENWOOD, Ind. – AJ Springer caps off his incredible junior season with his final award of the season, earning College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic First Team All-American.
Springer, a junior from Whitefish Bay, went on a tear after missing the outdoor season and cross country in 2025, kicking things off by resetting his school record in the indoor 800-meter run with a time of 1:52.94 at the Red Hawk Invite on February 7
th. Three weeks later, he swept both the 800-meter run (1:53.28) and mile (4:19.21) at the NACC Indoor Championship, earning co-honors of Track Athlete of the Meet. His time at the Red Hawk Invite, qualified him for the second-straight year to the NCAA Indoor National Championship where he finished 11
th in 1:53.28 to earn Second-Team All-American honors.
Springer didn't let up during the outdoor season, winning the 800-meter run the first three meets of the season. On April 17
th at the Phil Esten Challenge, he reset his school record with a 1:51.38. At the NACC Outdoor Championships, Springer once again swept both the 800-meter run (1:52.94) and the 1,500-meter run (3:54.32). Six days later, Springer shattered his school record, dipping under the 1:50 barrier for the first time in his career in 1:48.99, that put him fourth in the country. At the NCAA Outdoor National Championship, Springer won his preliminary heat with a time of 1:50.09 where he advanced to the finals and finished fifth in 1:49.73 for First-Team All-American honors.
