MILWAUKEE - AJ Springer sweeps both of the end of season awards from the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) as he was announced as the outdoor track & field athlete of the year.
Springer carried his success during the indoor season outdoors, excelling in both the 800-meter and 1,500-meter runs. He won the 800 at the Carroll (Wis.) Alumni Open, the UW-Whitewater Rex Foster Twilight, and the Marquette Invitational before finishing runner-up at the UW-Lacrosse Phil Esten Challenge in mid-April. Despite not capturing the win, Springer's time of 1:51.38 at the Esten Challenge broke the NACC all-time record.
At the 2026 NACC Outdoor Championships, he swept the 800 and 1,500 to help lead the Raiders to the men's team title. After posting the second-best qualifying time in the 800 prelims , Springer won the final with a time of 1:52.94, breaking the championship record.
He followed up his NACC Championships performances with a win in the 800 at the UW-La Crosse Uncaged Eagle Open, resetting the NACC all-time mark with a personal-best time of 1:48.99. The time earned Springer USTFCCCA All-North Region honors in the 800 and secured a spot in the field at the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
At the national meet, Springer made a late charge to win his qualifying heat and advance to the 800 final with the third-best qualifying time (1:50.09). In the final, he sat seventh after the opening 400 meters but was able to advance two positions over the final lap to finish fifth with a time of 1:49.73 to earn USTFCCCA First Team All-America honors.
In addition to his all-region and all-America honors, Springer was a two-time NACC Track Student-Athlete of the Week during the season.
