MILWAUKEE – The MSOE women's lacrosse team had their home opener Wednesday night as they battled the wind and chaotic weather inside Viets Field. Carthage College came out of the firing from the opening draw control to handle the Raiders.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Carthage (5-0, 0-0 CCIW) made an early statement scoring five goals in the first eight minutes to begin the game. MSOE (0-2, 0-0 NACC) stopped the scoring for the rest of the quarter, along with Maggie Sanderson having a free-position attempt, as the Firebirds led 5-0 after one. The Firebirds added in seven more in the second quarter to make the lead 12-0 at the halftime break.
- The Raiders limited the shot totals in the second half with Laura Melizza in net, as the Firebirds added two more goals in each quarter. Lilly Johnson added one more opportunity to get on the scoreboard early in the third quarter but couldn't find its way past.
