Men's Volleyball Advances to NACC Championship

MILWAUKEE – The No. 2 seed MSOE men's volleyball team advanced to the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) title game on Saturday with a four-set victory over No. 3 seed Benedictine University, led by Seth Thomas racking up six service aces.

RESULT
No. 2 MSOE RAIDERS – 3

No. 3 Benedictine - 1

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • MSOE (14-11, 10-2 NACC) began the match on a 6-1 run, capped by the first Thomas ace of the night before Benedictine (16-10, 10-2 NACC) brought it to within two 8-6. The Raiders got the lead up to seven after kills from Thomas and Tommy Clausz before the two traded the next few points. A 5-1 to close the set with two kills from Clausz sealed the first set 25-16.
  • It took until the midway point of the second set for the momentum to make its first swing when the Raiders went on a 5-2 run with a pair of kills from Callan Harris to take a 19-15 lead. After a Thomas ace put the Raiders ahead 23-20, the Eagles closed on a 6-1 run to steal the set 26-24.
  • The momentum picked up right away for the Red & White as Harris strung together three kills in a 7-2 run to begin the third set. A 5-0 run from the Eagles tied up the set at 13 before the Raiders got back on track offensively to lead 17-14. After keeping their steady lead, Thomas nailed another ace at set point to seal the third set 25-20.
  • After things went back-and-forth to begin the fourth set, the Raiders finally strung their run together with a pair of kills from Harris and Thomas to take an 11-7 lead. A dump from Parker Rings later brought the lead up to 21-15 as the Eagles couldn't string a run together of their own as they ran out of time as the Red & White sealed it 25-21.
