Raiders Swipe 21 Bases in Runaway Over Vikings

GLENDALE, Wis. – The MSOE baseball team had a historical day on the basepaths, stealing 21 bases on the day to run away from North Park University Monday afternoon. The Raiders stolen base total is fourth all-time in a single game in Division III.

RESULTS
MSOE RAIDERS – 14

North Park - 5
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • North Park (11-18, 7-5 CCIW) was the first to strike in the top of the first while MSOE (18-13, 12-4 NACC) was held scoreless in the bottom. The Raiders loaded the bases to begin the second inning with Jake Franks driving in the first two runs with a double into right field then JJ Jackson right afterwards singling into left to score two more to make it 4-0. After Jack Kalitowski reached and the two stealing a base, Joe Stried singled to left to score Jackson and then stole second to cause a miscue from the Vikings that brought in Kalitowski. Christian Bosque drove in the final run of the inning, grounding out to shortstop to make it 7-0 after two.
  • The Vikings cut into the deficit in the top of the third but was matched in the bottom half when the baserunning got the best of the visiting squad when Charlie Claas came home on a first and third play. Two more runs came in during the fourth inning with AJ Le and Kyle Mayberry driving in runs to make it 10-2. The Vikings continued to cut their deficit in the fifth with two more runs but were once again matched in the bottom half when a passed ball not only brought in Jackson from third but Kalitowski from second to make it 12-4. In the sixth, Claas drove in a run making it 13-4 but were once again matching runs in the seventh as Jackson came in on a wild pitch to seal things.
