Baseball Drops Heartbreaker to Division One Milwaukee

FRANKLIN, Wis. – The MSOE baseball took on local Division I opponent Milwaukee at Franklin Field Wednesday evening in an all-out clash for the full nine innings, coming up short in the final frame.

RESULTS
MSOE RAIDERS – 2

Milwaukee - 3

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Eric Williamson got the nod for MSOE (22-15, 16-6 NACC) and kept it scoreless before Morgan Davis came in for the bulk of the load as the game was scoreless through four innings. Jake Franks led the top of the fifth with a walk and advanced to second on a stolen base and then to third on a sacrifice bunt from Charlie Claas. Robby Erickson put the first run on the scoreboard with an RBI groundout to score Franks to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead.
  • Milwaukee (16-27, 11-9 Horizon) put together their answer in the sixth inning, blasting a two-run home run to left to go ahead 2-1. To begin the eighth, JJ Jackson raced out an infield single, making his way to third after a sacrifice bunt and single. AJ Le came through, hitting a sacrifice fly to centerfield to score Jackson, knotting up the game at two.
  • The Raiders went through the top of the ninth with a massive opportunity to go ahead, getting first and third with one out but couldn't get a run across. The Panthers in the bottom half loaded up the bases and drew a full count before getting a walk to end it.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
  • AJ Le – 1 for 2, 1 RBI, 1 Walk
  • Morgan Davis – 7 Innings, 3 Strikeouts, 2 Runs Allowed
