MILWAUKEE – MSOE Athletics mourns the passing of longtime golf coach
Joseph Meloy (1950-2025). He joined the MSOE staff in 1976 as director of the Counseling Services Department and established the Men's Golf team, which he coached for 46 years.
Meloy received the Johanna Seelhorst Werwath Distinguished Staff Award in 1983. In addition to his tenure as the golf coach, Meloy worked with the Counseling Center, as lecturer in the General Studies Department and was involved with the university's student retention program.
In 1998, Meloy was inducted into the MSOE Athletic Hall of Fame for leading the men's varsity golf team to 12 conference championships and trips to the NCAA Division III National Championship in 2009, 2011 and 2013. He was named Lake Michigan Conference and Northern Athletic College Conference Coach of the Year a dozen times.
Meloy is survived by Kate, his wife of 47 years; children Patrick (Heather), Maggie (Pat), Madeline and Danny (Dan); grandchildren Nora, Eden and Lucy; his brother, Michael, and nieces and nephews.
