Three Raiders Earn NACC Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

MILWAUKEE – Three Raiders earned NACC Student-Athlete of the Week honors after the conference awarded Jessa Alderman, Mason Dopirak and Lana Kerley for their performances across the week of Jan. 5th - Jan. 11th.

Alderman, a senior from Janesville, Wisconsin, won the shot put at the University of Chicago Phoenix Invitational with a toss of 13.51 meters (44-4) - a mark that currently tops the NACC performance list and ranks fifth in NCAA Division III. She also placed second in the weight throw with a toss of 14.36 meters (47-1 1/2) as the Raiders swept the top four positions and placed five in the top six.

Dopirak, a senior guard from Manitowoc, averaged 30.5 points in two games last week, kicking things off with a double-double performance in an 85-82 overtime victory over Dominican. He scored 23 points against the Stars - 11 in the extra session - and pulled down 10 rebounds. Dopirak then dropped a career-high 38 points on 12-of-18 shooting in a 99-68 win against Concordia Chicago. He tallied 26 of his career-high total in the first half. During the week, Dopirak shot 49 percent (17-of-35) from the field, drained four of six 3-pointers, and connected on 91 percent (21-of-23) of his attempts at the free-throw line. He also totaled 18 rebounds, four steals, and three assists.

Kerley, a sophomore guard/forward from Frankfort, Ill., averaged 27.5 points and an even 10.0 rebounds per game in the Raiders' victories over Dominican (79-40) and Concordia Chicago (83-66). Against the Stars, she was 11-of-15 from the field and 6-of-7 from 3-point range en route to 28 points while pulling down nine rebounds and dishing out three assists. Kerley added 27 points and 11 rebounds against the Cougars, draining five of eight 3-pointers and going 8-of-10 at the free-throw line.

Alderman and the Raiders will be back in action on January 24th, when they head to the Karl Schlender Invitational, hosted by UW-Whitewater.  The meet is set to start at 11:00 A.M.

Dopirak and the men's basketball team will host the Edgewood Eagles tomorrow, January 14th at 7:00 P.M. in the Kern Center.

Kerley and the rest of the Red and White will hit the road and head to Madison as they take on the Edgewood Eagles on their home turf on January 14th with a 7:00 P.M. tip-off.
