DUBUQUE, Iowa – The MSOE women's hockey team defeated University of Dubuque on the road in overtime Friday night, controlling the puck offensively, outshooting the Spartans 46-29, with Emily Reiner getting the job done with the extra period goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• MSOE (7-8-1, 4-4-1 NCHA) came out with a purpose, outshooting Dubuque (2-14-0, 1-8-0 NCHA) 16-7, including a powerplay opportunity nearly 13 minutes in but couldn't convert, heading into the first break scoreless. The Raiders struck first as Hannah Baumann raced down the iced to feed MaryFrancis Williams for the early lead. Less than a minute later, the Raiders doubled their lead when Gray Mandia drove with her stick for the puck to send it past the Spartan goaltender, making it 2-0. The Spartans would answer on the powerplay to cut their deficit to one at the second break.
• The Spartans tied up the game four minutes into the third, but the tie didn't last long. Right off the faceoff, the Raiders sent it right down to their offensive end as Baumann was able to sneak it right past to retake the lead. That lead wouldn't last long either as the Spartans knotted up the game at the three with 13 minutes in regulation, forcing an overtime period. The Raiders controlled the puck the whole extra period, leading the shot total 7-1, including Reiner sealing the game with 42 seconds to play.
