MILWAUKEE – The MSOE women's hockey team earned the season series win over University of Dubuque on Saturday, striking quickly before going on a run that the Spartans couldn't stop.
FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 4
University of Dubuque - 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (8-8-1, 5-4-1 NCHA) wasted no time as before even a minute into the game, Emily Reiner stole the puck and went coast-to-coast solo for a quick 1-0 lead. The Raiders would continue to control the puck the first period, outshooting Dubuque (2-15-0, 1-9-0 NCHA) 14-7, but couldn't extend the lead, heading into the first break up one.
- The Spartans would tie up the game on a goal after the midway point, but that tie wouldn't last long as Hannah Baumann would snag a rebound off a MaryFrancis Williams shot to send to the back of the net to get the lead right back just 1:29 later, which held at the second intermission. Midway through the third, the Raiders would extend their lead after Arial Lapsa corralled the puck in the middle of a scrum in front of the net to make it 3-1. After the Spartans pulled their goalie for a late push, Gabi Heuser would seal the deal with a goal with 1:20 to play.
