HOW IT HAPPENED
- Chase Cummings knocked in the first bucket of the game before Benedictine (5-12, 4-6 NACC) went on a 6-0 run to grab early momentum. MSOE (11-7, 9-2 NACC) retook the lead after Matus Dopirak cashed from three to make it 10-8 but was immediately taken back by the Eagles as they led as large as eight near the midway point of the first half. Cummings helped retake the lead as he hit one from long range with 5:23 to go in the half, but the Eagles once again took the lead right back as they headed into half leading 34-31.
- Less than a minute into the second beginning, a pair of free throws from Cummings put the advantage onto the side of the red & white before the two sides traded the lead twice. Jonathan Burroughs from three gave them a 55-53 lead which kickstarted a 13-2 run to have a double-digit lead. Free throws in the clutch from Mason Dopirak gave them their largest lead of the game at 18 with 1:13 to play to seal it.
