EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The MSOE men's Hockey team closed out the first series of the 2026-27 season on Saturday night, as the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds shutout the Red and White to hand MSOE their first loss of the season.

FINAL SCORE

MSOE RAIDERS – 0
UW-Eau Claire Blugolds – 4

HOW IT HAPPENED

• MSOE (0-1-1, 0-0-0 NCHA) and UWEC (1-0-1) were looking for a definitive decision after Friday night's tie, as the team's jockeyed for the first lead of the game.  Tommy O'Donnell and the MSOE defense would hold off an early barrage from the Blugolds, before putting a few shots of their own on goal, with Riley Mullen and Casey Roepke being stopped by the Eau Claire goalie.  At the 12:35 mark of the first period, the Blugolds would strike first, putting UWEC ahead 1-0 as the teams went to the first intermission.
• In the second period, the Raiders looked to establish the attack, but the UWEC defense got in front of most of them, blocking the Red and White left and right.  The Blugolds would add their second goal of the game at the 6:18 mark of the second, before adding another at the 12:51 mark, putting MSOE down 3-0 heading to the third intermission.
• Despite the Raiders outshooting the Blugolds in the final two periods of the play, the Red and White were unable to find the back of the net in Eau Claire, as the opposition tacked on one last goal in the third period.  The Red and White were already low on time, but after MSOE was assessed a five minute penalty for htting from behind, time would run out on the Raiders comeback hopes as they dropped the second leg of their road series.
