Men's Hockey Blasts Buccaneers in Home Opener

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The MSOE men's hockey team played their first home game of the 2026-27 season on Friday night, as the Raiders demolished the Beloit Buccaneers 6-1 in the Kern Center Ice Arena.

FINAL SCORE

Beloit Buccaneers – 1
MSOE RAIDERS – 6

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • MSOE (1-1-1, 0-0-0 NCHA) wasted little time jumping in front of Beloit (0-2-0) as Nick Sinani found Sam Schoenfeld just 2:24 into the game, with the freshman to senior combination putting the Raiders ahead 1-0.  After coming up short on a powerplay and successfully killing off a penalty of their own, the Red and White would double their lead at the 13:25 mark of the first period, as Sam Lyons fed Casey Roepke for what would turn out to be the game winning goal, as MSOE held their 2-0 lead heading to the first intermission.
  • In the second period, the Buccaneers would successfully stop the Raiders powerplay not once, but twice, before Beloit got themselves of the scoreboard just before the halfway point of the contest.  After the Buccaneers showed signs of life, the Raiders would immediately get back to work on the offensive end, with Sinani tallying his first goal of the evening at the 13:48 mark of the period, before Sam Evert followed him up with a goal of his own with three minutes left in the frame.  The Red and White would add one more before going to the second intermission, as Sinani tallied his second goal courtesy of assists from Ethan Mann and Lyons with the Raiders hold a 5-1 lead as they went to the final period.
  • From there, the Raiders would add one more from Rylan Jockims with 5:57 remaining in the game, with MSOE going on to win in lopsided fashion by a final score of 6-1.  The win marks the largest margin of victory for the Raiders since a 6-0 win over Lawrence University last November.
