Raiders Soar Past Cardinals in Sweep

MILWAUKEE – The MSOE men's volleyball team got back on the winning train Friday night, sweeping North Central College with a staggering third set.

RESULT
RV MSOE RAIDERS – 3

RV North Central - 0

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Back-to-back kills from Callan Harris and Seth Thomas gave MSOE (5-4, 0-0 NACC) the edge to open until North Central (6-4, 0-0 CCIW) stayed in it to tie it back up at nine. A mini 4-0 run put the Raiders ahead 13-10 at the midway point as the Cardinals couldn't put the ball in to extend it to 20-13. Cutting it down to four, Bram Griever made a massive kill to get to set point as Gregory Kubon finished the job on the serve to win 25-19.
  • The Cardinals grabbed the momentum as set two was tied at seven to lead eventually lead 16-10. A 4-0 run capped by a kill from Thomas cut it back down to one late and as the Cardinals got to set point, another 4-0 run as Thomas killed an overpass put the Raiders ahead 25-24. Going back-and-forth after the 25-point mark, a miscue from the Cardinals being out of rotation end the set to win 29-27.
  • Everything was going right for the red & white to open the third, running away on a 10-1 run as Thomas nailed three aces in the middle of it. The serving from the Raiders continued to dominat as Hunter Carroll made two and another Brendan Nesemann extended it 20-5 before the Cardinals made a small run to chop their deficit. They were ultimately shut down as Jack Stolzer put the final nail in the coffin to win 25-10.
