Williams Tallies Hat Trick in OT Win Over LFC

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The MSOE Women's Hockey team rallied back for a massive win against Lake Forest College on Friday night, recording four consecutive goals in back-and-forth overtime thriller.

FINAL SCORE

MSOE RAIDERS – 5
Lake Forest College - 4

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • MSOE (10-11-2, 6-7-2 NCHA) fell behind LFC (11-13-0, 9-8-0 NCHA) after two first period goals from the Foresters gave them the early advantage.  LFC would add a third goal to their lead at the 3:26 mark of the second period, with both teams jockeying for a chance at a home playoff series.  A mere two and half minutes after the last Forester goal, MaryFrancis Williams would put MSOE on the scoreboard with a powerplay goal, cutting the Raider deficit to 3-1.  Williams would tally her second goal of the evening with just over two minutes left in the second period, as momentum began to turn in favor of the Red and White.
  • After trailing heading into the third period, Williams would complete the first hat-trick in program history, tallying her third goal of the game thanks to assists from Hannah Baumann and Darby Boughan. After the teams were knotted up with just over sixteen minutes left in regulation, Nadia Buck would find the back of the net, giving MSOE their fist lead of the game less than two minutes later, as the Raiders needed a regulation sweep to earn the #4 seed in the NCHA playoffs.
  • The Foresters would crush the Raiders home playoff hopes with 2:23 left in the third period, as LFC tied things up at 4-4 off of a shorthanded goal. The Raiders would scramble to pull out a late regulation win, but the opposition forced extra time in Lake Forest.  Just 21 seconds into the extra time, Arial Lapsa tallied the golden goal, giving MSOE the 5-4 win as the home playoff series slipped away from the Red and White with the extra time.
