HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was neck and neck from the opening tip as the game didn't see a two-possession lead until Carson Cordelli made a put back layup to lead 18-14 for MSOE (19-8, 16-2 NACC). Marian (17-10, 11-7 NACC) immediately took back the lead two possessions later, but the Raiders found a spark just before the under-eight timeout, going on an 8-0 run with Mason Dopirak hitting back-to-back deep threes to lead 28-21. The Raiders went up double-digits with 3:51 to play in the first half and after the Sabres cut it down to four, a Dopirak three at the buzzer gave the Raiders a 44-36 lead at the break.
- The Raiders took their largest lead of the game with 17:10 to play to go up 12 after Chase Cummings laid one in. The Sabres began to catch fire, going on a 14-2 run to tie up the game at 50 with 13:33, taking the lead a minute later. The lead would then trade five separate times before with 6:16 remaining the Sabres would grab ahold of it and not let go, going up by double-digits with under a minute to play to seal it.
