#20 Men's Volleyball Takes Down #18 Stars in All Time Classic

MILWAUKEE – The second straight Friday with a Top 20 matchup inside the Kern Center, the #20 MSOE men's volleyball took down #18 Dominican University in an all time classic.

RESULT
#20 MSOE RAIDERS – 3

#18 Dominican

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Dominican (10-3, 2-1 NACC) knocked in the first two points and then held the lead from there, extending it to six just after the midway point at 18-12. MSOE (9-5, 2-0 NACC) brought it back to a two-point game after back-to-back aces from Seth Thomas and back to two again with an ace from Callan Harris, but the Stars stuffed them at the net on set point to win 25-21.
  • The Stars once again grabbed an early lead but was snatched at the midway point with Gregory Kubon capping a 5-0 run with a pair of aces to take the lead 11-8. A 5-1 run with Harris making three kills upgraded the lead 18-13 but the Stars soared back to cut it to one. The serving continued to be a lethal part of the Raiders' game as Bram Griever hit back-to-back making it 22-18 before they connected on three straight kills with Thomas capping it to win 25-19.
  • Set three became true neck and neck as a lead never grew larger than two until late in the set when Hunter Carroll connected on one from Parker Rings to lead 22-19. Getting to set point, the Stars came back to tie at 24 to force extras. After each side trading service errors, the Raiders trickled off the final two points to take set three 27-25.
  • The Stars refused to allow this match to end in four, jumping out to a 7-2 to open. The Raiders cut it down to two at the midway point as Rings and Matthew Schultz teamed up for a block, but the momentum was halted immediately as the Stars busted it back open, leading 17-11. Despite a late Raider run, the Stars sealed it to win 25-22.
  • The Stars continued to find success early in the set, opening set five leading 5-2 and after extending to 8-5, it was all Red & White, going on a 6-0 run, leading 11-8. The Stars fired right back to tie at 12 after trading two point rallies and then a pair each, Harris and Schultz called game on the block to win 17-15.
