HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game One
- MSOE (3-11, 0-2 NACC) jumped out in front of Rockford (4-6, 2-0 NACC) in the top of the first, as Caroline Fouras took advantage of an error by the Regents to put the Raiders up 1-0. Rikka Ludvigson would tally an RBI single in the top of the second to extend the MSOE lead, but a rally from Rockford would tie the game up at 2-2 in the bottom of the third.
- The Raiders would regain the lead in the top of the fifth, as Lylah DeArmond single to center field with the bases loaded giving MSOE a 3-2 lead, but the Red and White were unable to bring another run across, proving to be costly after a solo homerun from the Regents tied the game up the bottom of the inning.
- The Red and White would regain the lead on a sacrifice fly from Ludvigson in the sixth inning, with Rockford continuing to follow the pattern of tying the game up in the bottom of the inning. MSOE was unable to bring a run across in the seventh, with the Regents walking off the Raiders in the first leg of the double header by a score of 5-4.
- Game Two
- In game two, Rockford would tally two first inning runs to jump in front of the Red and White, who would trail by as many as five runs heading to the fifth inning. Brynn Kerber would kick off the fifth with a lead off single, stealing second before Fouras drew a walk to put two on for the Raiders. Ludvigson would continue her hot streak at the plate, doubling to center field to put MSOE on the board. Back-to-back singles from Carlee Emery and DeArmond would extend the rally for the Raiders, putting the Red and White just two runs behind the Regents at 5-3.
- The Regents would push their lead right back to five runs after tallying five hits in the bottom of the fifth, as the Raiders trailed 8-3 with two innings to play. After being unable to muster any offense in the sixth, a Jayda Nelson double drove in another MSOE run, followed up by a single from Emery to score Nelson and cut the lead to 8-5 in favor of the Regents. From there, the Raiders rally would run out, as the Regents completed the sweep of the Red and White in the first weekend of conference play.
