Baseball Sweeps Sabres in Home Opener

GLENDALE, Wis. – Taking the field at MSOE Raiders Stadium for the first time since last season, the MSOE baseball team swept Marian University as score double-digit runs in both games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Game One
    • MSOE (13-5, 4-0 NACC) got the bats swinging early as Jake Franks led off the bottom of the first with a single before racing home after Christian Bosque ripped one to the right center fence for an RBI triple for the opening run of the game. Camden Hoier stepped in two batters later for a single up the middle to bring in Bosque, making it 2-0 after one. The bats continued in the next inning as Teo Greco pulled one down the left field line for a double to score Charlie Claas before Franks scored him on a sacrifice fly to double the lead 4-0.
    • Franks powered was showcased in the fourth as he launched a two-run blast over the right field fence to extend the lead 6-0. Marian (6-9, 1-3 NACC) climbed into the game as they scored four in the fifth and another run in the seventh to cut the deficit to one. The Raiders pulled away in the bottom half of the seven as they put up four spot as Max Babich finished things off on the mound to take game one.
  • Game Two
    • The Raiders were held scoreless in the first two innings before AJ Le and Hoier picked up RBI base hits for a 3-0 lead. The Raiders erupted in the fourth with Greco kicking it off with sacrifice fly with Le and Mayberry each blasting two-run homers to make it 9-0.
    • The Sabres got on the board in the eighth with a solo shot to make it 9-1. With two outs in the bottom half, Vance Kurokawa called game with a three-run home run to end it.
