FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The MSOE softball team fell to Marian University on Sunday, after the Sabres took both legs of the low-scoring doubleheader.

RESULTS

MSOE RAIDERS – 1
Marian University - 2

MSOE RAIDERS - 1
Marian University – 3

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Game One
    • MSOE (3-15, 0-6 NACC) fell behind Marian (7-7, 4-0 NACC) in the bottom of the second inning, as the Sabres tallied two runs on three hits to take the early advantage over the Red and White.  In the top of the fourth, Rikka Ludvigson doubled to right center, before stealing third base to put a runner 60 feet away with just one out.  After a Carlee Emery walk, Jayda Nelson would single to center field, allowing Ludvigson to score and bring MSOE within a run.
    • In the top of the sixth, it was Emery and Nelson who would set the table for the Raiders, recording back-to-back one-out singles to put two runners on for the Red and White.  MSOE would be unable to bring the tying run across in their final two at-bats, as the Sabres took the low-scoring first game.
  • Game Two
    • In game two, the Sabres tallied all three of their runs during a four-hit one-walk rally in the bottom of the fourth inning, giving the Raiders three innings to mount their comeback.  After being retired in the fifth without recording any damage, Autumn Sadler singled to lead off the sixth, advancing on a fielder's choice and wild pitch before coming across to score after an error from the Sabres.
    • Trailing 3-1 in the top of the seventh inning, Olivia Beals pinch hit for Brynn Kerber, as the sophomore singled to left field looking to jumpstart a two-out rally for the Red and White.  The Sabres would record the final out before the Raiders could get their comeback off the ground, dropping their doubleheader to the current conference leader.
