MILWAUKEE – In a rematch of the regular season finale just three days earlier, the No. 4 seed MSOE women's lacrosse team defeated Concordia University Wisconsin in the NACC Quarterfinals with a monster second quarter.
RESULT
No. 4 MSOE RAIDERS – 19
No. 5 Concordia Wisconsin - 7
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Concordia Wisconsin (7-9, 5-4 NACC) jumped out ahead early, scoring on a free-position at 9:15 and then added another just a minute later to force a MSOE (8-10, 6-3 NACC) timeout. The Raiders scored two goals with 34 seconds of each as Ashlyn Bode fed Chloe Ninmann and Vayda Flower to tie the game at two. The Falcons retook the lead at 3:26 and then looking to extend the lead on a man-up situation, Molly Benjamins sent one to midfield for Ninmann to run towards the goal all by herself to tie it at three. The Raiders took their first lead with just 20 seconds remaining in the first from Lilly Johnson to go ahead 4-3.
- After the Falcons tied up the game at four, the Raiders began to pull away dominantly, as Arial Lapsa started a six-goal run, including Paige Calderone on a man-up opportunity, to make it 10-4 at the break. Just 51 seconds into the second half beginning the Falcons made a push to halt the scoring. It wasn't until 5:48 remaining in the third when the Raiders got back on the scoreboard as Johnson scored her second as four more after that came through, including Ninmann on a man-up to make it 15-5.
- Three straight to open the third looked to seal the deal for the Raiders as they lead 18-5. The Falcons connected on two more to cut their deficit down to eleven with Bode finishing the job with just two minutes remaining.
