Women's Lacrosse Stuns Top Seed Foresters; Advance to NACC Championship

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The MSOE women's lacrosse team make history Wednesday, advancing to the NACC championship for the first time in program history after stunning No. 1 seed Lake Forest College on the road.

RESULT
No. 4 MSOE RAIDERS – 16

No. 1 Lake Forest - 15

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Lake Forest (11-5, 9-0 NACC) looked to put the game away early, scoring four goals through the first part of the first quarter until Joce Katte broke up the run. Two straight goals from Arial Lapsa put MSOE (9-10, 6-3 NACC) down just one before the two traded goals with Vayda Flower putting it in with just five seconds remaining to go down 5-4 at the end of one.
  • After two goals from the Foresters, Chloe Ninmann went back-to-back in a 55 second span to counter. Ninmann countered once again after a Foresters goal on a man-up opportunity, but they put in two to close out the first half, leading the Red & White 10-7.
  • The Foresters opened the second half with a goal which started a massive run for the Raiders as Alana Perry started it on a man-down opportunity with Lilly Johnson, Lapsa, and Bode keeping the train going to tie up the game at 11. The Foresters broke up the run just before the third quarter buzzed sounded to lead 12-11.
  • The two traded two goals coming from Ninmann on a man-up and Maggie Sanderson. The Foresters thought they had the game put away after taking a two goal lead at 5:04 but Ninmann cut it to one at 2:16 and then on a man-up opportunity Lapsa tied up the game at 1:44. After the Raider defense made a stand to get the ball for the last possession, Bode called game with 5.9 seconds remaining to stun the Forester crowd.
