HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game One
- MSOE (4-18, 1-7 NACC) took a 2-0 lead over the Muskies (11-10-1, 3-3 NACC) in the bottom of the second, as a Jayda Nelson single and an error from Lakeland allowed Carlee Emery to score the first run of the game, with another Muskie error allowing Nelson to score.
- Katie Pollock would post a dominant outing as the starting pitcher for game one, retiring the Muskies in order in five of the seven innings. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Rikka Ludvigson would provide some insurance runs for the Red and White, blasting a two-run homer to left field for a 4-0 MSOE lead. From there Pollock would allow just one more Lakeland hit, holding the Muskies to three hits and just two walks in a shutout win for the Raiders, their first conference win of the season.
- Game Two
- In game two, the Raiders jumped out to another second inning lead, as Caroline Fouras singled to right field with two runners on to bring one around for the Red and White, before a sacrifice fly from Gabby Ruchniewicz pushed the MSOE lead to 2-0. The Muskies would respond with five runs across four hits and two MSOE errors in the third and fourth innings, as Lakeland took a 5-2 lead.
- After the Raiders chipped the Muskies lead down to 5-4, Lakeland would tag the Red and White for three more runs in the fifth and another in the sixth as MSOE trailed 9-4 with two innings to play. In the sixth the Raiders would get one on an RBI single from Lylah DeArmond. In the seventh, Noel Dahl would draw a walk, and Olivia Beals would be hit by a pitch to put two runners on with no outs for the Raiders. A single from Ludvigson would load the bases, with a Muskie error allowing two more Raider runs to score on the very next at-bat. DeArmond would connect for her third double of the game to drive in another run and bring MSOE within one, but the Muskies would force one final pop fly as the Raiders settled for splitting the twin bill after the 9-8 game two loss.
