Box Score MADISON, Wis. – Edgewood went on a decisive 17-3 run that spanned the end of the first half and the start of the second and never looked back in defeating the MSOE men's basketball team 66-58 Thursday evening at the Todd Wehr Edgedome.
The Raiders (3-2, 1-2 NACC) took their first and only lead of the game 24-23 at the 3:20 mark of the first half. The Eagles (4-2, 2-1 NACC) scored the next seven points to end the half and the first 10 points of the second half to take a decisive lead.
MSOE put four players in double-figures, led by junior Jeremiah Erdmann's 15 points. Senior Jaren Singh scored 11, while senior John Cording and Austin Stueck chipped in 10 apiece. Cording added five assists and four steals.
Justin Williams and Jake Heuer scored 13 points each to lead Edgewood.
Junior Nathan Verdun hit a three-pointer at 3:20 to put the Raiders up one. The home team then scored the next six points heading into the half. Erdmann hit a three-pointer at the halftime buzzer to make it 30-27 at halftime. The Eagles then opened the second half by scoring the first 10 points and never looked back.
The Raiders would cut the deficit to nine on multiple occasions down the stretch, but could get no closer until a Cording three-pointer with eight seconds remaining.
MSOE has the weekend off before returning to the court next weekend, hosting Dominican at the Kern Center Saturday, Dec. 14. The Raiders and Stars tip off at 2 p.m.
