Box Score MILWAUKEE – The MSOE men's basketball team overcame a double-digit deficit in the final minutes for the second-straight road game, prevailing 70-64 at Wisconsin Lutheran Tuesday night.
The Raiders (11-3, 6-3 NACC) trailed by 10 with 4:34 to play, but ended regulation on a 12-2 run to reach overtime before nipping the Warriors (4-10, 2-8 NACC).
Sophomore Austin Stueck topped 20 points for the fourth time in five games, scoring a game-high 25 points to lead MSOE. Freshman Collin Seubert added 13 points off the bench.
WLC had one double-digit scorer in Brett Lubbe, who posted a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds.
The Red and White led 30-23 at halftime, but the Warriors started cutting into that lead immediately. They opened the second half on a 15-3 run to jump ahead 38-33 by 13:05. They built a 10-point advantage at 54-44 on a Jake Jarnigo three-pointer at 8:02 when MSOE took a timeout.
Little had changed by the time the Raiders started their comeback from a 56-46 deficit. Seubert started the run with a three. Sophomore Connor Patterson then came up with a steal to set up a layup by senior John Cording and followed with his own layup.
WLC answered to make it 58-54, but Stueck hit a three-pointer at 2:08 to make it 58-56. That's where the score stayed until the final minute. Patterson then tied the game at 58-all with a layup with just under 30 seconds to play. Wisconsin Lutheran had a chance for the win, but Kyle Stelse's three-point attempt was off the mark just before the buzzer.
In overtime, it was the home team striking first to take a 60-58 lead, but Stueck tied it up with a pair of free throws and hit a three-pointer. Seubert then came up with a steal and, after being fouled, drained his two free throw tries to give MSOE a 65-60 advantage. The Red and White then hit 5-of-6 free throws down the stretch to hold off the Warriors.
The Raiders return to action at home, hosting Concordia Wisconsin Thursday at the Kern Center.
