ROCKFORD, Ill. – Sophomore Holly Denfeld posted her second-straight double-double as the MSOE women's basketball team improved to 2-0 with a 65-50 victory over Rockford Saturday afternoon at the Seaver Center.

The Raiders (2-0, 1-0 NACC) limited the Regents (0-4, 0-1 NACC) to just 50 points in winning back-to-back games to open a season for the first time in program history.

Denfeld followed up her 22-point, 11-rebound outburst in the season opener with 14 points and 15 rebounds Saturday. Sophomore Shaylan Reardon and senior Marly Trier contributed 13 points and seven rebounds apiece, while senior Bre Strong notched nine points.

Diamond Williams was the lone Rockford player to score in double-figures, finishing with a game-high 18 points.

MSOE trailed for just 19 seconds in the game, answering Rockford's game-opening bucket with seven-straight points to take the lead for good. The home team hung around long enough to pull within one at 11-10, but the Raiders went on an extended 23-7 run to open a 34-17 lead midway through the half.

The Red & White carried a 36-22 lead in halftime and did not allow the Regents any closer than eight points in the second half.

The Raiders put together another strong all-around game, shooting over 46 percent from the field and posting an assist-to-turnover ratio of 17-15. Defensively, MSOE limited the Regents to 37.7 percent shooting and posted a second-straight double-digit steal game with 11.

Senior Ali LoBue played a key role on both ends of the floor, sharing team-high honors with Denfeld with three each, and dishing out five assists.

MSOE will look to carry this hot start over to Wednesday when it returns to action at Marian.
